Solea Dental Laser − Berkeley CA

The Solea® dental laser is a gentle, non-invasive alternative to traditional dental tools. With quicker treatment & no anesthesia, you will never fear the dentist again!

Despite our best efforts to prevent dental issues through regular cleaning, sometimes treatment is necessary. Whether we recommend something as simple as a tooth filling or a more complicated procedure, treatment can be difficult for patients who fear drills or have trouble sitting still for long periods of time.

Dental lasers are a powerful & versatile tool in the dental field, & we are proud to use the Solea laser in our office to make treatment more comfortable, less stressful & less time consuming—a major benefit for nervous patients especially!

What Is The Solea Dental Laser?

Solea is a type of laser used in dental procedures that replaces some of the tools that patients find the most scary. Effective on both teeth & gums (you might hear us call them hard & soft tissue), dental lasers like Solea eliminate the need for scalpels, drills & even anesthesia—as well as the waiting time associated with going numb! Patients who fear needles & drill noises will find treatment much more comfortable with Solea.

Why Solea Is Especially Great for Anxious Patients

We understand that traditional dental treatment can be uncomfortable & time consuming. It can be difficult to sit through a long procedure, & fear of the needle & drill might make some patients reluctant to undergo the procedure in the first place. Fortunately, the Solea laser addresses all of those concerns, making dental treatment quick & comfortable.

Treatment Overview

The Solea laser allows dentists to skip steps that are necessary for traditional treatment. While treatment used to begin with an injection, waiting to go numb & finally the treatment prep, most of that is skipped, allowing your dentist to get straight to work.

The Solea laser is made up of a handpiece connected to a machine that powers it & tells it what to do. Also connected to that machine is a foot pedal that allows the dentist to control the laser without having to turn away from the patient to change settings through the machine’s screen. During the procedure, the dentist will use the handpiece to aim the laser similar to how they aim the water spout and suction tools.

After laser treatment, patients can expect shorter recovery time, as there’s no need to wait for anesthesia to wear off & soft-tissue procedures do not require stitches. We’re happy to answer all of your questions about this wonderful technology & how it will make your treatment easier, faster & more comfortable!
